The golden grizzly bears at each end of the klamath river bridge have always had a special significance to me ever since
I first saw them as little girl.

These are the South end bears guarding the new klamath river bridge

The south pier of the old Klamath river bridge still survives with the old bears standing their post.

During December 1964 a flood broke the center span of the old bridge (logs blocking the bridge). That flood also washed away
the town of Klamath. Afterwards, the town was rebuilt on higher ground as was a new bridge complete with new bears.
Perhaps towns in other locations should follow their example and rebuild on higher ground instead of the same flood prone place.
